Biography

If I am so attached today to teaching and cultural mediation, it’s because of a school intervention at the age of four which made me want to join the Conservatory to study violin and piano.

I come from a sporty family and I owe my healthy, happy, hard-working and simple way of life (alongside my appreciation of music) to a very varied upbringing. I am the eldest of creative siblings to whom I am very close, and our different musical universes (traditional music, jazz, brass bands…) enrich us mutually every day.

I am very lucky to play music, it nourishes my daily life and vice versa, but I also like to diversify my musical experiences as much as possible. I first began by devoting myself fully to the world of opera. From the age of nine, I sang in the children’s choirs of the Opera of Avignon on the incredible stage of the Roman Theatre of Orange. By the time I was 16 I lived only for playing symphonic repertoire and to perform at the Festival of Aix with members of the London Symphony Orchestra. I am still passionate about opera and symphonic music, but I also dedicate myself to teaching, cultural mediation and working with other artistic mediums. Sharing experiences and love of music is essential in my opinion. I also love chamber music and the string quartet that I created with my closest friends served as a human and musical alchemy, helping me grow as a musician.

Every day I try to enrich myself with new musical experiences. One of the most memorable was the day I partnered with the Netherlands Youth Jazz Orchestra, making me discover a world as incredible as the “classical” one.

QUICKFIRE QUESTIONS

What is your favourite piece of music and why do you love it?
This is probably the hardest question ever. But, if I have to choose a piece it would have to be Strauss’ Ein Heldenleben (A Hero’s Life). It was one of the first huge symphonic pieces I played when I was 16. When the first theme comes back after ‘the battle’ part (around 29 minutes in), you can be sure that I will cry.

What do you do with your time when you’re not playing music?
When I have even only two days free, I am travelling. I love discovering new culture, cities, and ways of life. I also love hiking/walking.
