St Paul's Girls' School returns to Smith Square for an evening of exhilarating music-making.

The concert will open with our Concert Band featuring many of our wind, brass and percussion players under the baton of Matthew Dickinson.

Three music award holders will play solo concerto movements with the symphony orchestra – the first movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto in D minor K466; the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D major Op. 35 and the second movement of Martinůs Rhapsody-Concerto for viola and orchestra, H337.

Paulina Voices, conducted by Heidi Pegler, will perform Everyday wonders: The Girl from Aleppo by Cecilia McDowall. The cantata tells the story of Nujeen Mustafa, a Kurdish teenager with cerebral palsy forced by war to flee her home and embark on an arduous journey to Europe with her sister. A wealth of musical effects are employed to capture the narrative, including chorales, rhythmic spoken text, body percussion and a solo violin part infused with Middle Eastern flavours.

The symphony orchestra under the baton of director of music, Joseph McHardy, with close the concert with Jupiter by Holst from The Planets Suite which was written while Holst was Director of Music at the school.
