Polyphony & the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment return to Smith Square for their annual performance of Bach's St John Passion.
While the St John Passion is perhaps lesser-performed than its contemporary, St Matthew Passion, and seems at first glance more intimate, it is rawer and more expressive. Bach’s narration of Christ’s Passion is piercing, with explosive moments of operatic splendour.
Expect vocal, choral and instrumental virtuosity as Polyphony & the OAE join forces under the direction of Stephen Layton.
