This project first came about in 2023 and pays tribute to Oscar Peterson and his trio through performances of well-known songs and compelling original arrangements in Peterson’s style. The Oscar Peterson Trio was one of the most influential groups of its time, and Will, Simon and Murray encapsulate the blend of high level of precision and ‘feel’ this music demands. As a trio, they have performed with NYJO and UK jazz pioneers such as Gareth Lockrane. Individually, they have performed with notable names such as Jean Toussaint, Peter Long and Rob Barron. They are particularly excited to come together for this project.
