Chameleon presents Mycelium, a recital inspired by the intricate networks that connect and sustain life in the natural world.

At its core is the title piece by Jenni Watson, composed to explore the ensemble’s unique versatility as a doubling woodwind quartet. The programme features a vibrant mix of player-arranged works, drawing on diverse instrumentations and time periods to create a dynamic, fast-paced concert.

From the folk-inspired orchestral melodies of Dvořák to the serene piano music of Amy Beach, and from the lively rhythms of Scottish folk tunes to the rich vocal harmonies of one of John Bennet’s madrigals, the programme pairs the old with the new, the familiar with the unexpected. Each piece is reimagined through Chameleon’s distinctive sound, offering fresh perspectives on these musical treasures.
