Biography

My music journey started at four years old when my parents signed me up for music classes at the local music school. When I was eight it was time for me to choose an instrument and my first choice was piano, but because there were no spots available, I went with my second choice, the violin, and I will be forever grateful that that ended up being my main instrument.

At age 15, I decided to become more serious about music and auditioned for the “Conservatorio Profesional de Música Adolfo Salazar” in Madrid, where I studied for four years with Anna Baget and obtained the “Grado Profesional de Música”. Parallel to this I finished high school with a focus on technical sciences, which I was also attracted to.

The summer I finished high school, my violin teacher recommended that I attended Indiana University’s Summer String Academy for a month. I arrived there with an open mind and eagerness to improve at my instrument, and I left with the certainty that my life journey had to continue there. IU was a place that would allow me to pursue music at the highest level with my dream teacher, Grigory Kalinovsky, while continuing to learn more about sciences through a minor degree in Mathematics.

My time at IU shaped a lot of who I am today as a person and as a musician. I was able to develop in areas such as chamber or orchestral music and discover new passions such as baroque music or pedagogy. It allowed me to work with names such as Stanley Ritchie, Jorja Fleezanis, Thomas Wilkins or the members of the Pacifica Quartet.

After five years at IU with a Bachelor’s degree and a Performer’s Diploma, I decided to come back to Europe and study a Master’s degree with Eszter Haffner at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. Soon after the start of my studies, I became a member of DUEN (The Danish National Youth Ensemble), and its director, Morten Ryelund, quickly became another mentor figure to me. DUEN was a very big part of my time in Denmark and it taught me new ways of listening and thinking about music, and deepened my love of making music with others.

Throughout my music journey, I have found that I’m at my happiest when I’m making music with others. At the beginning of my story, I said that I was grateful that violin ended up being my instrument, and this is because it allows me to do that in so many different ways. From string to symphonic orchestra, and from piano and violin duet to string quartet.

In the past year, I have continued to make music in JONDE (The National Youth Orchestra of Spain), an experience that has connected me with other young musicians from Spain and has given me the opportunity to tour all over the country while playing some of the greatest symphonic music at the highest level. I have also founded and become a member of the Shiraz Quartet, a string quartet championing new music, music that is culturally diverse, and repertoire that was cast aside through history.

When I’m not playing or listening to music, you can find me reading, doing word puzzles and sudokus, or cheering on my favourite football team, FC Barcelona!
