Praised for his “brilliant, infectious enthusiasm” (The Spectator), the young British conductor Jack Gonzalez-Harding, a rising star, returns to Smith Square Hall to perform this heartfelt programme of 20th century British music.

Appearing alongside the young conductor are two great home grown artists. The first, 2023 and 2018 Music Magazine Award winner, violinist Fenella Humphreys, whose “utter absorption and delight shines forth at every turn… strong-toned, easy fluidity and immaculate technique (Gramophone Magazine). The emerging British baritone George Robarts, who is gaining a following as a 2024-25 Oxford Song Young Artist, 2024 Garsington Opera Alvarez Young Artist and 2023 Longborough Festival Opera Emerging Artist takes centre stage in in Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs. The new Barbican Sinfonia, an orchestra in which London’s leading orchestral musicians play alongside remarkable young talent from London’s conservatoires will provide the accompaniment to Lux Aeterna Vocal Ensemble, a bespoke chorus assembled by the conductor. Join us for an uplifting evening in which some of the finest early career British talent is on display, at a time when young artists need the public’s support more than ever.
